Communication from the School Counselor About The Common Application Process
Dear Respected parents

Greetings from the office of the School Counselor. This letter is about the Common Application Process. It will guide you in the simple steps to take when your Child is applying for College through this Process.
Brief Background
The Common Application is a not-for-profit membership organization that, since its founding over 35 years ago, has been committed to providing reliable services that promote equity, access, and integrity in the college application process. We serve students, member institutions, and secondary schools by providing applications that students and school officials may submit to any of our over 500 members. Membership is open to colleges and universities that promote access by evaluating students using a holistic selection process.
The Common Application membership association was established in 1975 by 15 private colleges that wished to provide a common, standardized first-year application form for use at any member institution. With the administrative support of the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), the organization grew steadily throughout its first 30 years.
Today, The Common Application serves over 1 million students and school officials annually through our free online First-Year and Transfer applications. Our membership of over 500 public and private colleges and universities represents the full diversity of four-year higher education in the US and, increasingly, overseas.
The steps
If your child is applying for college using the Common Application process, here is a simple step by step process that you need to follow.
1.  Ensure that your child creates a student account on the common application page (https://www.commonapp.org/Login). This will give the student an ID which will always appear on the application forms.
2. Fill a request for transcripts and recommendation letters at the Central Office’s reception. Please bring recent passport photos for your child and copies of grade 8 and 10 national exams results. Remember to have the full mailing addresses of all the colleges they will be applying to.
3. The school counselor will facilitate and coordinate the teacher evaluations and recommendation letters. Once the letters have been approved by the MD Dr.. Gibson you will be called to the Central Office for the sending.
5.  The final sending process will involve you for the payment if the forms are being sent via DHL, UPS or FedEx. We will give the sealed envelopes with all the completed forms to one of our staff members who will deliver them together with you to the mailing office. This is to ensure that the quality of the package is not compromised.
We hope that this will help you when dealing with your child’s Common Application Process. For any further inquiry please visit the school counselor at the Central office or send an e-mail to gyaschool@hotmail.com . We will be glad to assist you.

Sincerely,

Susan Okach,
